Happiness is a feeling of joy and satisfaction causing through material, mental or physical things. For
example, clearing IAS examination makes one joyful and satisfied as his/her efforts paid off and a dream come true.
Happiness is the emotion which do not give space to the negative emotions like hatred, violence, etc. It
makes the nearby environment peaceful with sound minds of the people.
However, sometimes extreme happiness of an individual may bring unhappiness to the society.
Individual’s unhappiness: providing good education only to the son may give happiness to him and family
but not allowing daughter of same family to go to peruse education bring unhappiness to her. It also shows
the negative attitude of discrimination.
Social Unhappiness: physical pleasure of a person against the will of other resulted in to rape. It creates
domino effect and affect the social harmony. For ex. Psychic person rapes and kill women for his own
interest which instil the fear in the society.
Economical unhappiness: for one’s financial benefits, people grabbed or steal another’s money or
property. It brings injustice to the victim and whole family. For ex. Grabbing of farmers’ land by the big
Environmental Unhappiness: For people like tribal people their environment is their livelihood. But when
the government took their land for industrial purpose or constructing dam, etc then it brings unhappiness
to the tribal.
Religious Unhappiness: Practicing unethical religious practices causes undue burden on people. It also does
discrimination. For ex. Sabri Mala issue.
However, this unhappiness can be prevented with the emotional intelligence. Ei gives the sense of self awareness
and self-regulation, thus the activities under the utmost happiness can be restricted to a particular point.
