5. Q.) PYKKA scheme operated in the country and Madhya Pradesh is related to which region?
Explanation (d) The then Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Sarbananda Sonowal has said that the objectives of the Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan (PYKKA) scheme, which has since been revised and renamed as Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA) Scheme w.e.f. 01.04.2014. The respon sibility was entrusted to the Youth Welfare Department, which was to prepare the sports ground and appoint the sports hea there, whose job was to train the players. The government kept a budget of one-lakh rupees per playing field. The plan aimed to find sports talent in sports like discus throw, ball, volleyball, weightlifting set, badminton racket, shuttlecock, net, football etc..
Note: The PYKKA scheme started in the Year 2008 -09 but was discontinued in 2014 due to lack of proper operation of the scheme.
