Human Security Report ·       Produced at the University of British Columbia’s Liu Institute
Global Drug Survey Report ·        Released by an independent research company based in London.

·       It assesses trends in drug use and self-reported harms among regular drug users and early adopters of new trends.

ILO Report on Women in Business and Management ·       It is the second global report, titled “Women in Business and Management: The Business Case For Change”.

·       The report explores the business case for gender diversity in the workplace

International Religious Freedom 2019 Report ·       Released by – US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).

·       India continues to remain a Tier 2 country, a list it has been unable to get off of since 2009.

Displacement Trends and Policies Report

·       prepared by the OECD in cooperation with ILO, International Organization for Migration (IOM) and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

·       It focuses on skills of migrants and refugees.

World Population Prospects 2019 ·       Published by the Population Division of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, provides a comprehensive overview of global demographic patterns and prospects.

·       The global population is projected to increase by another 2 billion people by 2050

Progress Of The World’s Women Report ·       UN Women has released its flagship report ‘Progress of the world’s women 2019–2020: Families in a changing world’.

·       It assesses the reality of families today

All India Tiger Estimation Report 2018 ·       India has achieved its 2022 target of tiger population in the country. India now has 2,967 tigers.

·       The growth in the 4th cycle of the Tiger Census has been a 33 percent.

·       Madhya Pradesh saw the highest number of tigers that is 526 which is closely followed by Karnataka at 524 and Uttarakhand with 442 tigers remaining at number 3 position.

Working on a Warmer Planet:

The Impact of Heat Stress on Labour Productivity and Decent Work.


·       Released by ILO.

·       Global warming will make heat stress and extreme weather events more common and one result of this trend is the loss of jobs and productivity.

Global Tuberculosis Report 2018, ·       Released by WHO.

·       India has 24% of MDRTB cases in the world

Special Report on the Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate ·       was prepared following an IPCC Panel decision in 2016 to prepare three Special Reports and follows the Special Reports on Global Warming of 1.5°C (SR1.5), and on Climate Change and Land (SRCCL).
Global TB report 2019 ·       released by WHO.
Annual Crime in India Report 2017. ·       Recently released by National Crime Records Bureau.

·       The NCRB data reaffirms the generally held belief that Delhi is India’s crime capital.

Global Nutrition Report – 2018 ·       Released by World bank.

·       According the report, malnutrition costs India at least $10 billion annually

State of the World’s Children-2019 ·       Published by United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

·       Report highlights the condition of children’s health in India and across the world.

Stations Cleanliness Survey Report ·       Recently released Ministry of Railways.

·       The highlight of the report was that the top three cleanest railways stations are from the western state of Rajasthan. While Jaipur was on the first position, Jodhpur on second followed by Durgapura in third position.

India Justice Report 2019 ·       It compiled by Tata Trusts and various NGOs.

·       The ranking assesses the four ‘pillars’ of the justice system — police, prisons, legal aid, and the judiciary.

Brown to Green Report, 2019 ·       published by the Climate Transparency partnership.

·       The report is the most comprehensive review of G-20 countries climate performance. It also aims at mapping achievements and drawbacks of individual countries to reduce emissions and adapt to climate impact.

·       It points out that the carbon emissions from all 20 countries including India is rising.

·       India and China are the only two G-20 countries that have most progressive energy efficiency policies.

Freedom on Net 2019 Report ·       Released by – An international internet watchdog, the Freedom House

·       Title of the report – ‘The Crisis of Social Media’.

Bribery Risk Matrix 2019 ·       Released by – TRACE International, the world’s leading anti-bribery standard setting organization.

·       It measured business bribery risk in 200 jurisdictions to prepare the report.

·       India with a total risk score of 48 stands on 78th rank in the matrix.

Human Development Report ·       Annual report published by the Human Development Report Office of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

·       It is a statistic composite index of life expectancy, education, and per capita income indicators, which are used to rank countries into four tiers of human development.

·       Norway, Switzerland, Ireland occupied the top three positions in that order.

‘Time to Care: Unpaid and Underpaid Care Work

and the Global Inequality Crisis’

·       Released by Oxfam International

·       As per the report, India’s richest 1% hold more than four times the wealth held by the 953 million who make up for the bottom 70% of the country’s population and the world’s richest 1% have more than twice as much wealth as 6.9 billion people.

Global Investment Trend Monitor report ·       released by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.

·       The report focuses on trends in foreign direct investment (FDI) worldwide, at the regional and country levels and emerging measures to improve its contribution to development.

World Gold Outlook Report ·       Released by World Gold Council (WGC).

·       RBI currently holds 625.2 tonnes of gold, which is 6.6% of the country’s foreign exchange.

School Education Quality Index 2019 ·       NITI Aayog along with the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the World Bank has released ‘The success of Our Schools: School Education Quality Index 2019’.

·       Among 20 large States, Kerala was the best performer with a score of 76.6%, while Uttar Pradesh came in last with a score of 36.4%.

World Energy Outlook 2019 ·       IEA has released World Energy Outlook 2019

·       The International Energy Agency is a Paris-based autonomous intergovernmental organization established in the framework of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in 1974 in the wake of the 1973 oil crisis.

Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI) ·       India for the first time ranks among the top ten countries in the CCPI, which is released annually after analysing four parameters i.e. greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, renewable energy, climate policy and energy use

·       The country has, in fact, improved its ranking from 11th last year to ninth this year

·       The CCPI 2020, released by three international NGOs – Germanwatch, New Climate Institute and Climate Action Network, on side-lines of UN climate change conference (COP25)

Service Trade Restrictiveness Index ·       Launched in 2014, the Services Trade Restrictiveness Index (STRI), computed by the OECD, is available for a total of 45 economies (36 OECD and the rest non-OECD) and 22 sectors.
Global Peace Index 2019 ·       Australian think tank Institute for Economics & Peace has released the Global Peace Index (GPI) 2019.

·       India’s rank in the index has slipped five places to 141 among 163 countries.

National Freight Index ·       In its bid to bring transparency in the road-freight marketplace, Rivigo a tech-enabled logistics startup has launched National Freight Index (NFI) that will provide live freight rates for different lanes and vehicles across the country.
NITI Aayog’s Health Index ·       ‘Healthy States, Progressive India’

·       It has been developed by NITI Aayog, with technical assistance from the World Bank, and in consultation with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).

·       Kerala retained its spot as the healthiest state, while Uttar Pradesh stood at the bottom.

Fiscal Performance Index ·       The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has unveiled the Fiscal Performance Index (FPI), an innovative tool using multiple indicators to examine quality of Budgets at the Central and State levels.

·       The index is constructed using UNDP’s Human Development Index methodology.

·       By construction, a higher value of index is indicative of an improved performance and vice versa.

SDG Gender Index ·       The first-ever Sustainable Development Goals Gender Index, has been developed by UK-based Equal Measures 2030, a joint effort of regional and global organisations including African Women’s Development and Communication Network, Asian-Pacific Resource and Research Centre for Women, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and International Women’s Health Coalition.
Multidimensional Poverty Index ·       It is released by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI).

·       The report underscored that the traditional concept of poverty is outdated, demonstrating more clearly than ever that labelling countries – or even households – as rich and poor is an oversimplification.

Child Well-Being Index ·       World Vision India and research institute IFMR LEAD have released a report on child well-being in India.

·       The report is an attempt to look at how India fairs on child well-being using a composite child well-being index.

·       Among states, Kerala (0.76), Tamil Nadu (0.67) and Himachal Pradesh (0.67) are the top three states in the index.

State Rooftop Solar Attractiveness


·       SARAL has been designed collaboratively by MNRE, Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation (SSEF), Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) and Ernst & Young (EY).

·       The Index that evaluates Indian states based on their attractiveness for rooftop development has placed Karnataka at first place.

·       It captures five key aspects viz. robustness of policy framework, implementation environment, investment climate, consumer experience and business ecosystem.

Henley Passport Index ·       Measures the strength of passports of all nations has been released.

·       It is prepared by Henley and Partners, a London-based global citizenship and residence advisory firm.

·       The index gathers data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA)

Police Adequacy Index ·       It was part of the ‘Status of Policing in India Report 2019’.

·       Released by Common Cause and Lokniti–Centre for the Study Developing Societies, a nonprofit and a think tank, respectively, based in New Delhi.

·       Nagaland had the best score on police strength (0.80), followed by Kerala (0.71) and Delhi (0.70).

Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index ·       released by the World Economic Forum.

·       World’s most travel-ready nations – Spain (1), France (2), Germany (3), Japan (4) and the United States (5), the United Kingdom (6), Australia (7), Italy (8), Canada (9) and Switzerland (10).

·       India’s current rank- 34th.

Global Liveability Index 2019 ·       The Economist Intelligence Unit released its annual Global Livability Index 2019, measuring the most livable cities in the world.

·       Top Three: Vienna in Austria, Melbourne and Sydney in Australia

·       Bottom Three: Damascus in Syria, Lagos in Nigeria and Dhaka in Bangladesh.

India Innovation Index 2019 ·       recently released by NITI Aayog.

·       The Index is calculated as the average of the scores of its two dimensions – Enablers and Performance.

·       three of the top five major states are from southern India.

Global Hunger Index ·       India was recently ranked 102 out of 117 countries on an index that measures hunger in various countries across the world.

·       Published by Welthungerilfe and Concern world wide.

·       These scores are based on four indicators — undernourishment, child wasting, child stunting, child mortality.

School Education Quality Index 2019 ·       NITI Aayog along with the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the World Bank has released ‘The success of Our Schools: School Education Quality Index 2019’.

·       Kerala was the best performer with a score of 76.6%, while Uttar Pradesh came in last with a score of 36.4%.

Global Diplomacy Index 2019 ·       Released by – The Sydney-based Lowy Institute.

·       It covers the diplomatic networks of 61 G20, OECD and Asian countries and territories.

·       India is 12th among the 61 countries ranked by the Lowy Institute

Good Governance

Index (GGI).

·       Released by Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.

·       On the index, Tamil Nadu has got the highest score (5.62), followed by Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Chhattisgarh. Jharkhand and UP are among the big states that have fared poorly in the rankings.

Global Climate Risk Index, 2020 ·       published by environmental think tank Germanwatch which assessed 181 countries.

·       India is the fifth most vulnerable country globally to climate change.

·       India has also recorded the highest number of fatalities due to climate change and the second highest monetary losses from its impact in 2018.

·       Index has found Japan to be the most vulnerable followed by Philippines, Germany, Madagascar and India.

Global Social Mobility Index ·       The World Economic Forum has created a new index to measure social mobility, providing a much needed assessment of the current state of social mobility worldwide.
Democracy Index ·       The report is published by the Economist Intelligence Unit, the research and analysis division of the Economist Group, analysing 165 independent states and two territories.
State Energy Efficiency Index 2019 ·       developed by AEEE (Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy) under the guidance and leadership of BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency), with technical counsel from ACEEE (American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy).

·       Haryana, Karnataka and Kerala have topped the State Energy Efficiency Index 2019 and are in the achiever’s category.

Global Talent Competitiveness Index ·       Released at the World Economic Forum at Davos.

·       The index is based on research done by INSEAD (a partner and sponsor of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals) in partnership with The Adecco Group and Google.

·       The six metrics used to decide a country’s rank are – enable, attract, grow, retain, vocational skills and global knowledge skills.

·       The index, which covers 132 countries, ranked India at 72, which is an improvement of 8 places from last year (80).

·       India’s highest-ranked sub-pillar, is Employability (28th)
